Description: A uniquely shaped mini squash matures to about 2" - 3" in diameter. It is light green in colour with creamy white flesh, excellent flavour with a tender, meaty texture. The unique shape is called patty pan, scallop & Turk's turban squash. The flowers are also edible with a delicate squash like flavour.

How to Use?: 

  • Sautee with garlic for a vege pasta dish
  • Marinate & then Grill or bake
  • Add to other veges for a vegetable medley
  • Stuff with ground beef and cheese and bake

Soil Type: Fertile, high levels of organic matter, well-draining soil with a pH of 5.8 - 6.8 with consistent moisture levels

 

Growing Conditions: Full sun. Squash benefits from mulching to retain moisture & reduce weeds

 

Planting Depth: Plant at 1" deep

 

Days to Germination: Germinates in 6 - 15 days

 

Planting Distance: Space plant about 18" - 24" apart with rows set 3' apart. Wider spaces making harvest easier.

 

Days to Maturity: 57 days

 

Height when Mature: 36" - 48" 

 

Harvest: It is common for the first squash fruits to be malformed or wither than the others. When healthy squash has reached the desired size, harvest squash 2 - 3 times a week by cutting or gently twisting off. Summer squash is delicate, handle with care to prevent damage to the skin.

 

Succession Planting: For a continuous supply, sow new seeds every 2 - 3 weeks
