Description: Altas Carrots also called Parisian Carrots are small and round. The carrot gets to about 1 to 1.5” in diameter. Unique shapes adds a unique flair to any dish and the favour is outstanding. Both green tops and carrot roots are edible.

How to Use?

  • Cook just like regular Carrots
  • Try sautéing in a garlic and orange juice reduction with fresh Lemon Balm

 

Life Cycle: Annual

 

Soil Type: Carrots prefer loamy-sandy soils that is well drained, deep and loose with a pH of 6.0 – 6.8

 

Growing Conditions: Raised beds are recommended for carrots to minimize soil compaction. Full sun and consistent moisture levels are essential. Heat stress will cause this carrot to elongate.

 

Planting Depth: Plant at 1/2” deep

 

Days to Germination: Germinates in 14 - 21 days.

 

Planting Distance: For Transplanting: Sow 2 – 3 seeds per cell and transplant to rows 16” – 24” apart.

 

For Direct Planting: Plant 30 seeds per foot & set rows 16" – 24” apart. Thin to 1 plant every ¾” to 2” depending on root size desired. Add thinned plants to salads.

 

Days to Maturity: 70 days

 

Height when Mature: 12”

 

Harvest: Use a garden fork to lift the entire plant out of the ground in order to loosen root area.

 

Succession Planting: For a continuous supply, sow new seeds every 2 weeks
